Biting Off More Than I Can Read

I had an epiphany today. I realized that I just reached the point where, for the first time EVER, I'm not sure I can read all my library books before they are due! It is both depressing and exciting.

Here's what I got this week:

The 39 Clues Book 4: Beyond the Graveby Jude Watson
Daylight Runnerby Oisin McGann
Forest Bornby Shannon Hale
The Name of this Book Is Secretby Pseudonymous Bosch
Shiverby Maggie Stiefvater (FINALLY!)
Thirteenth Childby Patricia C. Wrede
When You Reach Meby Rebecca Stead
The White Queen: A Novelby Philippa Gregory
Dull Boyby Sarah Cross
Storm Glassby Maria V. Snyder (FINALLY FINALLY!)
Foundby Margaret Peterson Haddix
A Countess Below Stairsby Eva Ibbotson

And I only managed to read 2 books from this last loot and only 1 from the time before! I think I need to read faster. Or just crawl into a cave with all my books and not emerge until they are all read. Whichever is easier.

I also won a copy of The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parkerby Leanna Renee Hieber from The Tome Traveller's Weblog

And my purchased copy of Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer came too!

At least they don't have due dates :)

  1. As I said over at other Melissa's Book Nut blog, I don't really worry about actually reading all of the books I get from the library. It's more just about having a variety there, of books that all look marvelous, so that I always feel excited about picking up the next one!

  2. First time ever? Wow. You have far better self-restraint than I. I have one due today that I have already renewed three times and haven't read still....

  3. Eva, I hope that I can be more like you - accepting I won't read them all and being ok with it :)

Britt, yes. I thought I had pretty good restraint (or at least I read like crazy the day they were due).

  4. Or someone needs to invent that life-pause button so we can just put everything on hold while we read and read and read. (Or get my hands on a time turner like Hermione.)

    I feel your pain.

  5. I'll be interested to hear what you think about Life As We Knew It, I haven't forgotten that book at all, it sticks with you. It's The Road for the YA set.

  6. Melissa, as soon as you invent that, let me know (you'll be a millionaire).

Kim, I actually already read it a while ago - it really does stay with you for a long time. Also made me want to get a huge food storage going :) I have my thoughts on it up here.

  7. Several of those books are on my TBR list, so I'm really jealous you're getting to read them! Of course, I have a huge stack of my own books from the library to finish reading, first...er.

At least with a university library, the due dates aren't for another two-three months! :D

  8. Oh, I really need to get back to my local university! I need a few months for some of these.
