Armchair BEA, Day 1: About Me!

Design credit: Nina of Nina Reads.
Welcome Armchair BEA goers! Read on if you want to know a bit more about me! And skip right over if you don't. :)

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
I'm obviously a librarian, though I'm currently working in an academic setting despite a desire to be in a public library. I started blogging four years ago this October and I decided to blog about books simply because I read so much that I wanted to track it and review it. That way, all my family and friends who asked for recommendations could come here and find something.

What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?
Well, not sure I could pick just one favorite even from the books I've read so far this year. However, I did discover a new favorite series, Bloody Jack by LA Meyer, that I've been raving about. Seriously entertaining audiobooks.

Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.
I actually have a pretty boring life outside of the book world, but I do love to get out camping and hiking when I can, as I recently mentioned. Nothing like reading in the beautiful outdoors :)

What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?
I really enjoy doing the Listless Monday posts, where I create fun themed lists, though I also get a real kick out of Name That Book - a game where readers guess the book based on images I post.

Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?
I don't know if they are favorites, but I liked the recent discussions I had with readers about book advertising and what influences them to pick up a book.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoy your time doing Armchair BEA.

If you buy through my Amazon linkage, I will get a very small percentage

  4. I look forward to your review of Insurgent. I am currently re-reading Divergent before I start it because of course I can't remember a thing!

    1. I would probably have benefited from a reread, but alas. I did enjoy the refresher that Roth posted on her blog, that helped me remember some characters. Hope you enjoy it!

  5. I always wondered what it would be like to be a librarian. Sometimes I want to go back to school for it so I can do that in an elementary school instead of teaching one specific grade. Thanks for stopping by my blog today. It was nice meeting you lol.

  6. I wish I loved camping. I love hiking and being outside, but I don't like sleeping outdoors. I don't like the bugs or the not being my own bed or the no shower thing. But, I'm trying to get over it as it's something my husband really, really likes to do.

    1. Ah, I don't like being too long from my own bed either, but I do love being away from distractions and other city stuff. It's a trade off and sure makes me appreciate hot showers more :)

  8. I'll check out your Name that Book feature. I used to do a feature where people saw the back cover of a book (with revealing information covered up) and had to guess which book it was. Yours sounds fun too!

Bug spray is a necessity for me when I go camping :)

  14. Oh man, I love reading outside! It's meant to rain all this week over here, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to get very little reading done- I've been spoilt with sunshine over the last few weeks.

  18. I was going to recommend Bloody Jack on audio, but I see you've already discovered that. I read the first and listened to the second and I was surprised that I could love them even more on audio! My husband and I somehow fell out of camping and hiking over the past few years, but we are trying to get back into it this summer. We've already got one camping trip under our belt, so we're off to a good start!

    1. I haven't read any of the Bloody Jack books, only audio for me. I don't think I could go back to print on this one :) I hope you get lots of camping done this year!

  20. I also really enjoy camping and hiking, though it's been years since I've done either. Though in the meantime I read books about other people's hiking experiences, which is fun too.

Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday!
