A Bit of Me(Me) is hosted by Danielle of There's a Book.
This week's question is about our favorite food or restaurant. Since we are not much of an eating-out kind of family (based on the income we have right now), I figured I'd be safer talking about my favorite kinds of food. Then I also realized I had a corresponding restaurant for each type of food, so you get that info too! Of course, I really couldn't decide on just one type of food that I like, so you get all three.
1. American: and by this I mean a big, fat, juicy steak. I'm actually not that fond of hamburgers, but give me a steak and I'm a happy girl (I guess this is where everyone figures out I'm not a vegetarian :) I especially love to have barbecues and cook steaks, since it always seems to taste better that way than when I order them in a restaurant. I do, however, admit I like Outback Steakhouse. Obviously I haven't been often, but when I have, it was excellent!
2. Mexican: with certain exceptions. I'm beginning to realize how picky I am about food! I really only like certain kinds of Mexican food, while others tend to make me ill just looking at them. I used to adore our local restaurant Los Hermanos, but I don't love it nearly as much anymore. Either my tastes have changed or their food has changed. :)
3. Italian: again with certain restrictions. I have a particular fondness for a good fettuccine alfredo (it's a miracle I haven't clogged my arteries with all the fat from them). But pasta and pizza in general are absolute favorites of mine. For many years I noted lasagna as my favorite food, though it has to be the kind my mother makes, since I've never ordered it at a restaurant. My current favorite Italian restaurant is Macaroni Grill.

What's your favorite food or restaurant (or both)?
If you buy through my Amazon linkage, I will get a very small percentage
I agree with "most" of your choices. Exceptions are, I'm not a steak person. I would order chicken at Outback Steakhouse, smothered in kinds of really bad stuff for you. And that picture of your Italian food dish? All looks good except for the shrimp.... YUCK! :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh, do we have to pick just one?
ReplyDeleteFried chicken - Bullock's style (Bullock's is a restaurant in my town). Can't be beat.
As for restaurant, I would say Cracker Barrel is after Bullock's. Followed by North China's American Chinese food.
They're all good to make a stomach happy. :D
I love steak too, but my favorite is from Ponderosa. I've never been to Outback even though I keep saying I want to go.
ReplyDeleteI love Mexican too!
My answer is HERE
Oh, I love Macaroni Grill, too! There's one right around the corner from me (unfortunately I live near my city's best mall!), and I used to go there a lot. Not so much anymore, though.
ReplyDeleteBut here's what I wrote:

Know exactly what you mean about "mom's lasagna". I have never ordered it at any restaurant because none would compare.

I'm right there with you on the eating out front, just not enough funds. :o( That's okay though!
ReplyDeleteI also agree on the Mexican thing, it has to be the right one, and Los Hermanos just doesn't cut it. When we lived in Provo I really couldn't stand "wasting" my money there if we managed to tag along with friends. It's just okay.
And Oh! The Macaroni Grill, yum! Great picks!
Have you tried La Frontera?! I don't especially love Mexican food, but dang that place is good! Big portions, low prices... mmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if there are any in Utah County, but there are a couple of locations in Salt Lake County.
I really love Olive Garden. Macaroni Grill is okay. Haven't been to Outback in YEARS.
:)
Suey, and see, I'm not a huge fan of chicken (which is too bad since it's tons cheaper than steak or shrimp).
ReplyDeleteLauren, I couldn't pick just one :) I'm actually a huge hater of Chinese/Japanese and most other Asian foods. Not exactly sure why, though...
Vicki, and I simply can't think of Ponderosa without cringing. My brothers used to work there and somehow that makes me ill (they were teenagers at the time).
Laurel-Rain, it's a good thing I don't make it there very often :)
CMash, no one can compare - including myself!
1stdaughter, I used to simply LOVE it, but for some reason it's almost unbearably gross to me now. Weird. Still love the specialty drinks though :)
Britt, I haven't even heard of them! I'll have to check it out sometime, since I'm needing to replace my Mexican restaurant!
