Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I Want to be Like

Today is a freebie for Top Ten Tuesday and I honestly couldn't decide on one.  I think I kind of winged this one from another similar topic, but I decided to list my Top Ten Characters I want to be more like.  Since there were so many, I had a tough time whittling the list down.  Still, it's a nice mix, I think.

Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
This is kind of a no-brainer for me.  I would love to be more vivid, colorful, and imaginative.

Kami from Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan
I loved Kami's clever, witty dialog and sense of humor.  Not to mention her fearlessness and smarts, but minus a voice in my head, please.

Ali from Trickster series by Tamora Pierce
I've only listened to that first book, but I love how clever, capable, and independent Ali is - she works things out for herself, but still has that bit of foolishness that makes her endearing.

Queenie from Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
She's mad and sparkling and full of life, but loyal and flawed and fighting to the end in whatever way she can.

Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Though I'm probably more like Anne Elliot from Persuasion, I'd love to be the bright, witty, strong-willed Lizzy.  And having a Mr. Darcy wouldn't hurt either.

Jo from Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Smart and brazen and devil-may-care attitude, Jo is unafraid to seek out what she wants from life and grab it.  Also, she's so different from everyone around her, I love it.

Mary from The Agency by Y.S. Lee
She's not afraid of taking risks, she's intelligent and observant.  And she's unique among her peers, rather like Jo I think.

Solveig from Icefall by Matthew J. Kirby
I love how Solveig changes over the course of her story - she comes into her own as a storyteller and a valuable member of her family, where she thought she was unimportant.

Elisa from The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
Elisa is not your typical fantasy heroine, feeling very useless in her life and not wanting to do anything about it.  But, when tough times arrive, she finds her strength and does everything she can to keep what is hers.

Bramble from Entwined by Heather Dixon
Not the main character, but I really loved her.  She's endearing and passionate.  She is not afraid to speak her mind, loudly, and to declare things exactly as they are.

Who do you want to be more like?

If you buy through my Amazon linkage, I will get a very small percentage

  1. Awesome list! I would love to be like Lizzie Bennet too! I think I am more like Jane, personality wise (not looks-wise, though).

  6. I seriously love your list. I kept reading each one going, "Mmhmm. Yep. Ooh, me too!" (Although, as much as I love Elizabeth Bennet, Anne Shirley, and Elisa, I'd especially like to be them to get their men. Yowzah.)
