  3. I've always loved the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, but my favorites from your list are probably "Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry" and "To Kill A Mockingbird."

In terms of influence, I'd probably go with "The Grapes of Wrath."

My addition to the list, although not by A US author, would be Laurie Lee's "As I Walked out One Midsummer Morning" which narrates Lee's first trip to pre-Civil War Spain in 1936 and his walk across the country from Vigo to Granada.

  5. Julie, it sure is beautiful isn't it?

Suey, I was pretty shocked at how many I recognized from back then! It is a lot.

Andie, I've never heard of that one, but I don't mind adding it!

Court, never heard of that one either!

  6. I love Will Ferguson. His non-fiction books on Canada and Canadian identity are hilarious. (And he's super nice and funny! I met him at a reading last year)

  7. Caroline, I admit to not knowing much about Canadian authors (or books about Canada), which is quite sad! I better put him on my list!
