I Love a Good Stack of Books

I'm starting to build a new pile!  From the library:

North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley
Al Capone Shines My Shoes by Gennifer Choldenko
Aurelia by Anne Osterlund
Incarceron by Catherine Fisher
When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead (reread for book group)

Won:

The Girl Who Could Fly by Victoria Forester (in a contest from Macmillan Children's)

I also found my way to a Friends of the Library book sale (and was very moderate, if I do say so myself):
The Ruby in the Smoke by Philip Pullman
Abhorsen by Garth Nix (I must reread these and review them soon!)
The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner (I can't seem to resist my childhood favorites)
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
The Year of Secret Assignments by Jaclyn Moriarty

Don't you just get a thrill (even if it is sometimes overwhelming) seeing a big pile of books waiting for you to read?

If you buy through my Amazon linkage, I will get a very small percentage

  1. Incarceron sounds really good. And yes I love a stack of books even if it overwhelms me ;0)

  4. Oooh, the boxcar children was one of my childhood favorites too! I love having stacks of books to read, except that then it's so hard to choose!

  5. Dana, I don't usually have the choosing problem (at least if they're from the library), since I go by due date. Or at least I try to :)

  8. I loved The Thirteenth Tale, and I am just finishing up the Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix, so then I will start on his other series.

    Enjoy your loot.

  9. Eva, aren't they lovely? Especially if they are towering and precarious.

Jenn, now I'm even more excited! I've heard only good things about it.

Marg, I really adored the Abhorsen trilogy, though I have to admit, I didn't enjoy Mister Monday and haven't read the others in the series. I think I'll give them another try sometime.

  10. The Keys to the Kingdom series was a bit up and down for me. I do have this issue where if I start a series I tend to have to keep going with it. I am glad to have finished this series though (if only so I can say that I have finished a series rather than just keep on adding new series to my list of series that I am reading!)
