I tend to stick a lot with reviews because they're the easiest... but I think where the unique factor comes in is just the written content itself. Everyone has their own voice, and the way people write posts, for me, is what's going to keep me coming back. I want to read things I identify with, because I like that voice, not because a person has a flashy 'new' idea.Ashley @ Book Labyrinthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02395484656811182553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5537602474198205550.post-24519943744193876062012-06-09T19:40:04.667-07:002012-06-09T19:40:04.667-07:00I think trying new things always helps, at least f...I think trying new things always helps, at least for me. But one think I've found is fun is to let yourself write in a totally different format than your usual one...like most of my reviews follow the same old form of summery then reaction, but sometimes it's fun to shake that up and try a whole new approach.Charlottehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11835101886202235868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5537602474198205550.post-90549318690188706102012-06-08T20:00:02.455-07:002012-06-08T20:00:02.455-07:00Hi! LOL
It seems to me that variety is the answer to keeping a blog fresh and interesting. Even book blogs need to have a boost of variety. I'm one who can get into a simple book reviewing rut. But once in a while I give myself a kick in the boookie and shift into another gear. The blogs I seem to like best do that...keep it real and keep it moving. I like a mix of eclectic books. I think readers like new books and old books, and some that are published by publishing houses and some of the newly famous self-published. No book can be discounted these days.
One of my best friends who blogs has a fabulous sense of humor, so that keeps me going back to her blog frequently. As a naturally sarcastic person, I prefer to just write what I feel needs to be written, and not write long and overly serious reviews. The more you visible, the more you express yourself and find ways to weave what is interesting and personal to you into your blog the better.

Another way to at least keep current is to find ways to weave in current events, trends and topics. You don't have to do it every day but if something happens tweak it to fit the basic nature of what you do here.

I, too, like memes and have recently added the Top Ten Tuesday one. Sometimes I just open up a file, set a timer for 30 minutes and just list ideas. I don't edit or reject. They can be silly, serious, whatever, the idea is to list. If you were to list 100 ways to do something different on your blog, you'd be amazed at what's percolating deep within you. :)

This has been a fun week and turned out to be a great way for me to do generate some new content and I love visiting everyone's blogs and reading their work.Vikk @ Down the Writer's Pathhttp://www.downthewriterspath.com/2012/06/armchair-bea-tips-for-writers-and-book-bloggers/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5537602474198205550.post-28353892990782934172012-06-08T09:58:19.100-07:002012-06-08T09:58:19.100-07:00I feel like I get into these blogging ruts every s...I feel like I get into these blogging ruts every so often, too! Something I've tried challenging myself with lately is to read newer books, but then everyone else is talking about them too, so it seems to be a little monotonous! To help me stay "fresh" (like I'm leftovers or something, ha!) I try new things every so often. I still post reviews, keep with different memes I participate in, but if I get a random idea for the blog, I go for it. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't... but ANYTHING to add to my blog, make it more me, and help it to stand out a little is better than nothing!Candice @ The Grown-Up YAhttp://thegrownupya.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5537602474198205550.post-85861664176575365842012-06-08T09:46:11.227-07:002012-06-08T09:46:11.227-07:00I've read in several areas that the more blogs...I've read in several areas that the more blogs in your desired topic of blogging, the more chances of being read - I think it was problogger that said that...make yourself happy with what you are blogging about and that will in turn come out in your posts :-D

Happy Armchair BEA Week!Stacy at The Novel Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11438410877723922583noreply@blogger.com
